A driver has been taken to hospital after a crash in Bacup earlier today (May 16).

Rochdale Road, near the Sheep House reservoir, was closed for a time as emergency services descended. The road has now reopened.

Buses had to be diverted and the fire service had to use specialist equipment to cut a person from a vehicle.

The driver is in hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.

A police spokesperson said: “Rochdale Road has reopened following the earlier collision.

“The driver was taken to hospital but thankfully his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.

“Many thanks for your cooperation and understanding while we dealt with a complex scene.”
