Anderson backs Moores for England
England fast bowler James Anderson has given a glowing reference to Peter Moores, who has expressed his desire to return to the role of England head coach.
Moores left the national set-up in 2009 after a high-profile spat with Kevin Pietersen and took over coaching duties with Lancashire, whom he led to the County Championship title in 2011.
Moores is one of four names on the short-list to replace Andy Flower, along with Ashley Giles, Trevor Bayliss and Mick Newell.
Referring to Moores' impact during his previous England spell, Lancashire pacemen Anderson said: "He (Moores) probably started off one of our best periods as a team that we have had for many years and I'm sure Andy Flower would admit he learned a lot from being assistant to Peter, so I think he deserves some credit.
"He brings a lot of energy and a lot of enthusiasm, and that is the first thing that hits you when you go into a dressing room with him. He's also an extremely good technical coach and he's got the whole package.
"A lot of the guys here at Lancashire have flourished with him as coach. The guys enjoy working with him, he's obviously been very successful here - we won the Championship and we're back in the first division this year and hoping for more success.
"His style is exactly the same. I'm sure he'll admit he made a couple of mistakes when he was coaching England, and I'm sure he's learned from that, and if he gets another chance he'll make sure he doesn't do them again."
Moores declared his interest in the post during Lancashire's pre-season press day on Friday, saying: "I'm a passionate Englishman and the thought of coaching your country is something I'm interested in.
"I'm in the process so I suppose it depends what happens - I'm very conscious that I'm in a job now that I've loved and I still love.
"There's an excitement to have another go at it, and a frustration at the last time because in some ways you always have a vision when you're doing any job of where you want to go."
