Chris Woakes was handed a chance to impress against India
England replaced Tim Bresnan with Chris Woakes for the second one day international against India at a packed Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
The Kochi ground holds around 55,000 but reports locally suggest up to an additional 10,000 could have been sold as the hosts laid on a white hot atmosphere.
India, who lost the series opener, won the toss and batted first in sapping temperatures. Bresnan was a late withdrawal due to bruising above the knee.
