A teenager has appeared in court charged with the murder of a mother-of-two who was left dying and mutilated in the street.
Sher Singh, 18, of Wren Avenue, Southall, west London, was charged with the murder of Geeta Aulakh, who was found fatally injured by a passer-by in Greenford, north-west London, last Monday.
Singh, dressed in a black-and-white checked shirt and light trousers and speaking with the aid of a Punjabi interpreter, spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth when he appeared before Ealing Magistrates' Court in west London.
He was remanded in custody to appear before the Old Bailey on March 1 next year.
Mrs Aulakh, 28, was found suffering serious head injuries and one hand had been severed, police said.
She was taken to Charing Cross Hospital, but was pronounced dead just over four hours later at 11.20pm.
A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as severe head injury.
Eleven other men arrested in connection with the inquiry, including Mrs Aulakh's husband, were released on bail.
