Daniel Radcliffe will meet fans tonight at the premiere of his latest film - a romantic comedy called What If.

The Harry Potter star plays Wallace, a failed medical student who falls in love with Zoe Kazan's character, Chantry, who already lives with her boyfriend.

He said he was instantly attracted to the idea of playing the "misguided" character.

He said: "Immediately I was, 'I like this guy, he's similar to me'.

"He's definitely a pedant, and slightly reclusive and not really that social."

Radcliffe became a child star when he won the title role in the Harry Potter films and the adventures of the young wizard have reportedly made him a fortune of £60 million, but he has been critical of some of his performances.

The 25-year-old , who played Potter in eight films from the age of 11, told the Mail on Sunday the role was a "blessing" but bemoaned: "The moments I'm not as proud of, mistakes other actors get to make in rehearsal rooms or at drama school, are all on film for everyone to see."

He even said he hated watching the sixth film, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, because he was "very one-note" and "complacent".

What If, which also stars British actor Rafe Spall as Kazan's boyfriend and Oona Chaplin from Game Of Thrones, has its premiere at the Odeon West End in London's Leicester Square tonight.
