The reunited members of Monty Python's Flying Circus have been trying to take work seriously as they began rehearsals for their farewell live show.

Terry Jones, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Gilliam and John Cleese got together in London to work on Monty Python Live (Mostly) which begins at the O2 Arena in July.

Eric and John struggled to keep a straight face as they made each other laugh.

Eric tweeted: "Excellent first day of rehearsals. Pythons in great form. Very funny. Two more days of private Python rehearsal then on to the big set.

"Made John laugh yesterday when I said 'We must leave them wanting less'."

Terry Gilliam posted a rehearsal picture on his Facebook page which showed him barefoot and quipped: " Yes, Monty Python is back together again (minus one)! We started rehearsals for the show yesterday. Some of us are still rich enough to afford shoes."

Sixth Python Graham Chapman died of cancer in 1989 aged just 48, and nine years later the five remaining members shared a stage at the Aspen Comedy Festival in the US.

Monty Python Live (Mostly) sees the five stars reunited on stage for the first time in the UK in over 40 years at the London O2 Arena for 10 memorable nights from 1-5, 15, 17-20 July 2014.

The final show - their last hurrah - will be broadcast live on UKTV Gold and into thousands of cinemas around the world.
