Harrison Ford could miss up to eight weeks of filming on Star Wars: Episode VII, although the movie is expected to stay on schedule.

The 71-year-old, who has reprised his role as Han Solo in the seventh instalment of the sci-fi franchise, has been resting in hospital after breaking his ankle on set. Despite reports of a pelvic injury, he is thought to be on the mend as doctors confirmed he has no other issues and is expected to leave hospital shortly.

His wife Calista Flockhart is said to be flying out to the UK to be by his side, the Daily Mirror reported.

A source told the newspaper that film bosses, including director JJ Abrams, have made some amendments to the shooting schedule to accommodate the star.

"The initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move things around but now we have had more time we can juggle things, bring some scenes forward and push others back. There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster. We are still confident the film can stay on schedule," the insider said.

"At the moment it looks like Harrison is going to be off set for six to eight weeks but the main priority is making sure he is OK."

A Star Wars spokesman said they were "hoping to announce some good news soon."

Meanwhile, the film's art department staff had to scour eBay for a replacement pair of gold-plated dice for the Millennium Falcon's cockpit, reported The Sun.

They found an identical pair on the auction site for £22.

The new Star Wars film, which also stars Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and Andy Serkis alongside returning cast members Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, is scheduled for release in December 2015.
