Riley: No Breakfast role for me
Rachel Riley has denied the BBC Breakfast job was ever hers to take, saying she wouldn't want it anyway because of the early starts.
The Countdown numbers boffin had been rumoured to be moving into ex-Strictly Come Dancing co-star Susanna Reid's old seat after her move to ITV was announced.
But Rachel told Digital Spy: "There's no truth in that, I'm not sure where that's come from.
"I had quite a few messages from friends that just laughed their heads off at the thought of me doing anything that early in the morning.
"No, there's no truth in that. That's a job for a journalist and I'm sure they'll get a journalist to do that.
"It's the BBC and it's a news reporting role, and I'm sure they'll get someone appropriate."
Susanna announced her exit after a reported £1 million deal to join ITV's new breakfast time show Good Morning Britain.
BBC newscaster Louise Minchin looks like the current frontrunner to replace her on Breakfast.
Rachel has been filming the new Dave series 24 Hours To Go Broke, which sees celebrities tasked with blowing £10,000 abroad without making any extravagant purchases.
