O'Connell: Jolie tested out stunts

Jack O'Connell has revealed that Angelina Jolie tried out some of his stunts herself on her new film Unbroken.

The Starred Up actor, who worked with the actress-turned-director on her latest project, said the filmmaker sometimes tested out the action sequences before he filmed them.

"She led by example. There were some occasions where she was testing out the stunts I was going to be doing before me. I was like, 'Be careful Angie!'," he said. "She's a very inspiring woman and her leadership was definitely beneficial to us all, and a lesson."

Jack plays Louis Zamperini, an Olympic runner who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during World War Two, in Unbroken, Angelina's second directing project after 2011's In The Land Of Blood And Honey.

He admitted he wasn't too starstruck when working closely alongside her, as he tried to focus on the work.

"There's been a few of those occasions in my career now... I've had to deal with a few of my idols before," he explained.

"We had a project in hand, so I find focusing on that more beneficial. There's a level of professionalism that I've got to up keep if my working relationships are going to be successful."

But he wasn't entirely immune to the surreal aspect of the situation.

"Sometimes, I still have the same mentality as this little kid from Derby. The most famous person I'd met as a youngster was Stefano Eranio [a footballing hero] and I remember how I felt. But now, as opposed to getting too excited, I feel really humbled."

:: Starred Up is in cinemas on March 21.
