Kristen Bell has revealed the Veronica Mars movie has something for everyone, as the film premiered in Los Angeles.

The film version of the axed crime comedy series, starring Kristen as private detective Veronica Mars, got the chance to hit the big screen after die-hard fans launched a crowd-funding campaign through Kickstarter.

Kristen said: "It's a very fine line we walked in making the movie not to alienate or reiterate a bunch of stuff for our super-fans, but also to be able to welcome people who hadn't watched the series.

"We settled on a short montage at the beginning, which sets up where these characters are and their dynamic, and it also serves, for the super-fans, to pump them up and remind them how fun the series was."

The 33-year-old actress added: "If you see the movie and haven't seen the TV show, it won't matter. You'll get all the information you'll need."

The film's director and writer Rob Thomas said he was "overjoyed" and "humbled" by the amount of support the TV show - and the film adaptation - received. The fan-fundraising campaign raised two million US dollars in less than 10 hours.

"People have asked me before if I felt vindicated by the fact we get to make this movie and that fans really backed this movie, but even when we were getting cancelled, the executives at CW and Warner Bros always loved the show. They always wanted the show to stay on the air, so it's never been a sense of vindication," he said.

The film, which is released in cinemas and digitally on March 14, sees Veronica returning to her hometown as a successful lawyer, where she reunites with old pals Wallace Fennell (Percy Daggs III), Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring) and Cindy 'Mac' Mackenzie (Tina Majorino).
