Booth: Good looks lose me roles
Douglas Booth has revealed his good looks are more likely to lose him acting roles than help him get ahead.
The 21-year-old British actor, who has modelled for Burberry, stars as Romeo in a new film version of Rome And Juliet, but he does not want to become known just for being a heartthrob.
Douglas revealed: "One of the things you get most is, 'You're too good-looking to play this part.'."
But the young actor is taking inspiration from Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays Romeo in Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of Shakespeare's play.
He said: "When Leonardo DiCaprio started, he was this huge heartthrob but he was like, 'Right, I'm not going to settle for being that. I'm going to have a very varied and interesting career that I'll create and carve out.' That's a very respectful path and one I'd like to emulate."
Douglas already has a string of movies coming up next year, including sci-fi epic Jupiter Ascending with Channing Tatum, the big-screen version of the play Posh, and Darren Aronofsky's epic Noah, with Russell Crowe in the title role.
Douglas revealed: "He was still singing Les Mis songs [on set]. I think it was still fading out of his system. Russell's very sociable. He's always, 'Come back to my trailer mate, have a drink'."
