Jude Law 'buried' Dom Hemingway
Jude Law has revealed he literally buried his character from crime drama Dom Hemingway at the end of filming, to get him out of his system.
The Hollywood heartthrob put on 30lbs to play the seedy safe cracker, by eating two tubs of ice cream a day and drinking 12 cans of fizzy drinks.
Jude confessed at the Toronto Film Festival that when he first read the script he was shocked by how terrible his character was, but admitted: "It's fun being foul sometimes."
The Sherlock Holmes star revealed at the end of the movie he had to exorcise Hemingway from his system and so he buried all his props in a makeshift grave on the Isle of Man where they had been shooting.
He revealed: "I had to get him out of my system so I shaved everything off, and got rid of all the other stuff I used for it, all the fizzy drinks and the cigarettes and we put them in a box and buried it with a little cross.
"So anyone who really loves the film can go and look for the cross that says Dom Hemingway on it. It's in a field somewhere."
The 40-year-old actor revealed he found putting on weight for the film hard work, and in the end ice cream and fizzy drinks proved the best method.
He revealed: "I was worried after a while that it wasn't getting where I wanted it to get - I inspected myself every night. It was a lot of everything, but two key ingredients - ice cream, two or three tubs a day, and a lot of fizzy drinks, 12 cans a day."
Richard E Grant, who also stars in the film, claimed Jude's weight gain didn't put the ladies off.
He joked: "I feel sorry for Jude because even after gaining 30 pounds he still looks like a walking love god. And wherever we were on location, women's knees were literally wobbling, so he seems immune no matter what he looks like. Whereas the rest of us have to scrub up to try and be vaguely attractive to the opposite sex. Not Jude!"
