Eve: No fights for females, please

Burnley and Pendle Citizen: Eve said moving to London helped reinvigorate her love of music Eve said moving to London helped reinvigorate her love of music

Eve has said that female rappers today have "no unity".

The Grammy-winning rapper praised the amount of women MCs around, but reckons they should stop fighting and join together.

"There are more female MCs now, but there aren't so many sharing the big spotlight. When I came out it was me, Lil Kim, Missy and Trina, now there's Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, Azealia Banks and Angel Haze, but there's no unity," she said.

"They're out there, but there's so much beef and arguing among them. Angel Haze will grow up and become big, I'm sure. I'd like to see more female MCs and not just that, but a bigger variety in what they're like."

Eve - who has released her fourth album Lip Lock after label differences - revealed moving to the UK has inspired her to continue making music.

"I went through a lot of aggravation with my label over various things, then I took a step back and thought about whether I actually wanted to make music," she said.

"Then I got inspired again, moving to London helped with that, and performing in so many other counties constantly. That helped re-inspire me, and once I was in the studio again I was fine. I had tried acting and fashion, and trying those things helped me realise it was music that was my first love."

She added: "I've got the bug again, and I'm thinking about the next collaboration and next album already. It's all different now I'm on my own label, I can do whatever I want which is really nice artistically."
