A competition for One Direction tickets had fans searching Liam Payne's parents' garden
One Direction fans flocked to Liam Payne's family home after a competition to find hidden tickets to see the band went wrong.
A radio station broadcast clues to find two tickets to a sell-out 1D gig in Birmingham, and around 100 listeners misinterpreted the hints - believing they led to Liam's parents' garden.
Liam's dad Geoff called Free Radio in the West Midlands and told them: "I'm much better now that the competition is over. I've had people loitering around the house for days on end now. I'm glad someone won it. There have been people hiding round corners looking for them."
The tickets were eventually found taped to the back of a nearby road sign in Wolverhampton, but eager fans reportedly searched the Payne's garden, hunting in bushes, plant pots and wheelie bins.
The six clues to find the hidden tickets included "they are close to somewhere beautiful" and "could have been an ancient burial site", but confused fans assumed Liam's home would be the obvious hiding place.
The radio station apologised "wholeheartedly" to Geoff for the confusion.
