Steve Carell said he wanted to play 'a jerk' on the big screen
Steve Carell has joked that he signed up for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone because he wanted to wear velour.
The Little Miss Sunshine star plays a stage magician with big hair, a chest-baring costume and a big ego in the new movie, which also stars Alan Arkin, Olivia Wilde, Jim Carrey and Steve Buscemi.
Steve said he was drawn to the character because he wanted to play "an absolute jerk", and added: "I guess I always wanted to wear velour!"
The actor revealed the cast had a blast on set.
"Every day something fun happened," he said.
Alan added: "It's crucial that the audience feels that sense that you did something together.
"That's why, whenever I see a flash mob, I start sobbing. It's art that's just done for the sheer joy of it. There's nothing to gain from it. It's just to have fun. It's deeply healing."
The Incredible Burt Wonderstone opens in cinemas on March 15.
