X Factor bosses reportedly want Robbie Williams to sign up for the judging panel - alongside Take That bandmate Gary Barlow.
Producers are hoping that having both singers on the ITV show will provide the "fireworks" missing from the last series, according to The Sun.
A source said: "Robbie is exactly the right person for the show - but we don't want to lose Gary to get him. We want them both."
The insider added: "We know Robbie loves the show and he and Gary have a great friendship and rivalry - there will be fireworks for sure."
Louis Walsh and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger are rumoured to be returning for the next series of the show.
A spokesman for the show said: "It's far too early to say anything about the judging panel for this year's X Factor."
