Jamie Foxx won an Oscar for his performance in Ray
Jamie Foxx has said that he has no qualms about being skipped over for an Oscar nod.
The star of Django Unchained had been hotly tipped to receive a nomination for best actor, but the star - who already won an Oscar for his performance as musician Ray Charles in 2004's Ray - admitted he is not disappointed about missing out.
"Not at all. I don't do what I do for awards, I'm just happy to be Django," he said at the film's UK premiere.
"I think that's the most iconic thing. All I ever wanted to get out of this was to be Django."
The film is up for five Oscar nominations including best supporting actor for Christoph Waltz, best original screenplay and best picture.
Jamie said the reactions he has received as Django Freeman, a cowboy who tries to rescue his captured wife Broomhilda (played by Kerry Washington), has surpassed his own expectations.
"It was just amazing. An old-school black cowboy and to see everybody rooting for him to get to Broomhilda is just amazing," he said.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L Jackson also star in Quentin Tarantino's Western, which opens in cinemas on January 18.
