Former EastEnders star Rob Kazinsky is to play Anna Paquin's new love interest in True Blood.

The soap hunk - who played bad boy Sean Slater in the BBC soap for three years until 2009 and was named Inside Soap's Sexiest Male in 2008 - has been cast as a "highly charismatic faerie" called Ben Temps in the hit vampire show, TVLine.com has reported.

Rob's character will become the new love interest to Sookie Stackhouse (Anna) and will also help her and her brother Jason (Ryan Kwanten) with their investigations into the murder of their parents.

Rob has already made his mark in the US playing a doctor in Brothers And Sisters.

True Blood has also signed up Blade Runner star Rutger Hauer to join the show in season six as Macklyn, a mysterious and sinister figure with strong links to Sookie and Jason.

The new series of the show begins on HBO in the US next June and will air on FX in the UK.
