Pickering confident Blues will avoid drop

NELSON chairman Alan Pickering is convinced the struggling Blues can survive relegation under new manager Nick Jackson-Cooney.
Pickering appointed Jackson-Cooney, who had previously worked as a youth coach at Nelson, after previous boss Denny Khan left by mutual consent in the aftermath of last Saturday's humiliating 10-1 defeat at Newcastle Town.
Jackson-Cooney is Nelson's third boss of the season, and has his work cut out to save the club from relegation as they sit bottom of the Vodkat League Division One with 12 games left.
But as Nelson entertain local rivals Ramsbottom at Victoria Park tomorrow, Pickering believes the Blues can stay up.
"We've got to do exactly what we did last year," said Pickering. "We were in a similar position, and stayed up.
"But it's all hands on deck. The lads have all got to pull together, roll their sleeves up and knuckle down for a fight until the end of the season.
"With Nick in charge, I'm confident he can turn things around quickly.
"He's got my full support and, hopefully, he will grasp his chance."
