BURNLEY are plotting a bid to make left winger Aleksandrs Solovjovs their seventh summer signing.
The Latvia Under 21 international did enough to impress manager Owen Coyle in a week-long trial for the Clarets to then mount their pursuit of the Olimps Riga star.
Extensive negotiations between representatives of the two clubs and player have taken place this week.
The Latvian Higher League side are understood to have put a £400,000 price tag on 20-year-old Solovjovs, who is wanted by UEFA Cup holders Zenit St Petersburg, has trained with Chelsea and was a target of Blackburn Rovers before the departure of manager Mark Hughes to Manchester City.
Burnley are unwilling to meet the asking price but are hoping to reach a compromise.
