SUNDERLAND midfielder Liam Bridcutt knows his side need to start winning Premier League games and he believes Saturday’s clash with Burnley is the perfect time for the Black Cats to start.

Gus Poyet’s side have won just three league matches all season and were held to a 0-0 draw by Championship side Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday.

And Bridcutt, who returned to the starting XI after suspension, knows three points are the most important thing when Sean Dyche’s side make the journey to the Stadium of Light at the weekend.

“Next weekend’s game against Burnley is massive and we need to start winning games – that is the bottom line,” said Bridcutt.

“I think I put in a solid performance and that it was I need to keep doing, because if I can perform consistently then I’m going to get more chances to play.”

Sunderland will be without Jack Rodwell for the clash with the Clarets after the former Man City midfielder was sent off in the cup draw.

Bridcutt was taking the positives from the Fulham draw adding: “Despite having ten men we looked positive going forward in the second half.”
