BURNLEY will assess Danny Ings’ hamstring injury today after the striker limped out of the 0-0 draw at Crystal Palace.

Ings left the field at Selhurst Park shortly before half-time after stretching to control a ball near the halfway line.

The Clarets must now wait to find out how serious the injury to last season’s top scorer is.

His strike partner for most of last season, Sam Vokes, is already on the long-term injury list with a cruciate knee ligament injury which he picked up in March, and Burnley will be hoping they won’t have to do without Ings for too long.

Asked on Saturday night about the severity of Ings’ injury, Dyche said: “It’s too early yet.

“Obviously he’s just snapped his leg down to get the ball under control and I think his hamstring has gone tight.

“We don’t know how that is but the good thing is because it’s a sore one he gets off straight away, which always helps prevent further damage.

“It will probably be another 48 hours until we know.”

It is likely that the striker would have had to wait for any swelling to go down before medics were able to scan the problem area and make a diagnosis as to the extent of the problem.

The forward was on international duty with England Under 21s over the last fortnight but missed their first game against Lithuania – a 1-0 win – because of illness.

After overcoming two serious knee injuries in his first two seasons at Turf Moor the 22-year-old went on to have his best season in terms of appearances and goals, resulting in him being crowned Championship player of the year.
