BURNLEY will make Michael Keane their 10th summer signing, subject to Premier League approval, after beating the transfer deadline day clock.

The Clarets have agreed a four-month loan for the 21-year-old Manchester United defender.

After signing George Boyd for £3million on a three-year deal from Hull City earlier on transfer deadline day, Sean Dyche then added Nathaniel Chalobah to his midfield on loan from Chelsea until January.

Burnley looked like being frustrated in their attempts to make further signings as the day wore on.

But a bid to sign Keane was resurrected in time for Burnley to submit the required 'deal sheet' before the official 11pm deadline, allowing them two hours' grace to submit the full paperwork to the Premier League.

Keane, who has had previous loan spells at Leicester, Derby and Blackburn Rovers, made his Premier League debut for United on the 1-1 draw at Sunderland last month.

He scored three goals in 13 games during his loan spell at Ewood Park and was wanted on a season long loan by Cardiff City.

Bluebirds boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows Keane from his time at Old Trafford.
