BURNLEY boss Sean Dyche believes he has added 'quality and quantity' with the capture of George Boyd on a three-year deal from Hull City.

The Scotland international became a transfer deadline day capture, in a deal believed to equal the club's record £3million signing of Steven Fletcher in 2009.

The Clarets moved quickly after hearing of Boyd's availability, and Dyche said: "He's a player me and my staff have liked for a long time. The reason for the lateness of it was purely that we didn't think he was available.

"His availability was only in a matter of days really, Steve Bruce is a big fan of his but just felt that he didn't want to hold him back more than anything.

"There's certainly no lack of physicality from him. We know the distances he covers and the way he looks after himself, but also the quality.

"You look at his record down the years, he scores goals, he can create goals. We've gone up a level and that's harder to do so we need the people who can do it."
