BURNLEY manager Sean Dyche says he is happy to work within the club’s financial parameters as he seeks to strengthen his squad in the last week of the transfer window.

The Clarets have until 11pm on September 1 to bring in their final additions before the market re-opens in January.

The club has so far made seven new signing since winning promotion with Republic of Ireland international Stephen Ward the latest acquisition from Wolves.

But there are a number who they have missed out on, including Henri Lansbury, who has signed a new deal to stay with Nottingham Forest.

Burnley’s transfer policy has been met with criticism by their own supporters, who feel that bids for players including Lansbury, West Brom’s Craig Dawson and Wigan’s James McArthur have been too low, particularly considering that neither club has wanted to sell.

Dyche, however, has stressed he has no wish to unsettle the club’s financial structure.

“It’s a tough challenge still. The club have made it clear there are certain guidelines I have to work within, and that’s part of my role,” he said.

“We are aligned though, there’s no point me saying ‘why haven’t I got £25m to spend?’ because that would be counter-productive.

“I have to believe in the club, what we’re about. There’s a group and there’s a collective one-club mentality.

“We have to flex our improved financial muscle accordingly but, of course, in the Premier League there is a reality to things.

“Swansea are spending £10million/£12m at times, and we’re not there, “It’s taken this club three years to allow itself to make that jump in finance.

“We have to build a club and a team, and it’s important to do that in the right fashion.

“There’s no point moaning about it, it is what it is, we spend what we can within our resources and what we can achieve.”

Burnley have been linked with £3m rated Bolton Wanderers midfielder Mark Davies but there is not thought to be any truth in the rumours.

Meanwhile, the Clarets are looking for their first Premier League points after two games, but Dyche is taking the positives from his side’s second half performance at Swansea.

“I want them to play with freedom, quality and energy and that was all on show second half,” said the Clarets boss.

“The keeper’s made a great save, Juke (Lukas Juteliewicz) headed one over when you fancied him, especially given the form he’s been in in pre-season, and Barnesy (Ashley Barnes) turned and hit one over late on.

“The defining moment is taking those chances, even if you don’t have that many.

“First half we had a couple, as did they, but it is the Premier League and you’ve for to take the when you get them - that’s part of the growth period as well.

“But we didn’t get anything, and that’s the challenge we’ve got. There’ll come a time when we’ll take an ugly 1-0, you always do as a manager, but there’s a growth period within the side and this will do them the world of good to know they can compete at this level and deliver performances like that.”
