PRINCE Charles’s commitment to East Lancashire has been a major boost to the area.

Now his efforts to open a permanent base here is further proof of the positive impact he is determined to make.

As long ago as in 2008, the Lancashire Telegraph revealed how the Prince of Wales had made Burnley his number one priority.

And he ordered the Prince’s Trust, his flagship charity, to support the town’s youngsters and boost regeneration.

His latest announcement comes after he showed his mother and father around the area on Wednesday.

And the Queen praised her son for what had already been achieved in the area.

Charles put workers from the Prince’s Trust in place in the town and tasked them to work closely with some of the borough’s most disadvantaged 14 to 25-year-olds, including the unemployed and under-achieving.

He enlisted the help of Burnley Council bosses, who have offered support, as has the town’s football club – which is where you imagine his love of the team stems from.

The town is lucky that it has such a high-profile supporter who is so determined to see positive results that his welcomed visits look set to continue for many years to come.
