A MAN has been left fighting for his life after his car collided with a wall and a lamppost.
Ross Hill was driving his Vauxhall Corsa along Market Street in Whitworth shortly before 5.30am on Saturday when the incident occurred.
Police said that Mr Hill lost control of the vehicle whilst travelling at speed towards Bacup, and the car collided with a concrete wall, the impact from which made the car collide with a lamppost.
Mr Hill, from Rochdale, was taken by ambulance to Rochdale Infirmary, to be treated for serious head injury.
He was transferred to Royal Preston Hospital later that day, where he is currently in a critical condition.
An accident investigation was carried out at the scene.
Sergeant Martin Bishop from Colne road policing unit said: "We are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to get in touch on 01282 472431."
