Chorley looks likely to remain in Tory control. The party swept to power last year after 24 years of Labour rule.

The Tories currently have 24 councillors, Labour 17, the Liberal Democrats two, and there are four independents.

A third of the seats are being contested.

Big names up for re-election are Coun Peter Goldsworthy, leader of the council, Coun Mark Perks, executive member health, leisure and well being, and Coun Peter Malpas, executive member for economic development and regeneration.
