A PENSIONER knocked down outside Morrison’s supermarket in Nelson on Friday is now in a critical condition in hospital.
The 75-year-old, from Burnley, was struck by a Vauxhall Astra in a low-speed collision in Pendle Street just before 2pm.
The man had got up from the collision quickly and was reported to be ok, but after being taken to hospital it was discovered he had suffered head injuries when he hit the road.
Doctors found a blood clot and the man is now described as being in a critical condition at Royal Preston Hospital.
