A CARE home in Colne has been told it “requires improvement” by the health watchdog.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has raised a concern about recruitment processes not being properly carried out at Calder View, in Keighley Road, a communal area being used by staff, and a lack of clarity around the outcomes, restrictions and agreements in place for people under Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.

Regarding the recruitment of two members of staff, the regulator said: “We found there was a lack of satisfactory documentary evidence of relevant qualifications.

“There were no copies of certificates to verify applicants had obtained the declared NVQ. One recruitment record was lacking in evidence to demonstrate this matter had been pursued and clarified with the applicant.”

But the CQC said there were several positive aspects of the home, which was rated “good” for care, responsiveness and leadership.

It added: “People were happy with the support workers and managers at the service. We observed positive and respectful interactions between people using the service and staff.

“There were systems to ensure all staff had regular training and supervision.”
