A PENDLE head teacher was among those praised by Prime Minister David Cameron at an event in Downing Street.
Rachel Tomlinson, head of Barrowford Primary School, was nominated to attend the reception by Pendle’s Conservative MP Andrew Stephenson.

Mrs Tomlinson was thrust into the national spotlight earlier this year when her letter of encouragement to Key Stage Two pupils went viral.
She met Mr Cameron and the Secretary of State for Education, Nicky Morgan, during her visit to London.
The Prime Minister said: “Delivering the best schools and skills for our young people, so that they can fulfil their potential and get on in life, is a central part of our long-term economic plan.
“With such dedicated and inspiring teachers in our schools I know we can ensure our children get the best chance to succeed. It was an honour to celebrate their commitment at this reception.”
Mr Stephenson added: “We have so many inspiring teachers and head teachers across Pendle and one of my favourite parts of my job is working with local schools.
“I was delighted Rachel was able to come to Number 10 and share ideas with other teachers from across the UK. Her work locally has certainly helped put Barrowford on the map.”
