PENDLE Council has called on residents to put forward issues for its scrutiny team to study.

Previous studies looking at social care have resulted in Pendle being declared a ‘Dementia Friendly Community’, as well as improvements to traffic problems in Colne.

Councillor Graham Roach, who chairs the team, said work would be carried out over the next 12 months on the “things which matter most to Pendle people”.

He said: “In the past year or two, scrutiny studies have looked into all sorts of issues that affect us in Pendle and not only council services.

“We want to make sure that we continue to look at how we can improve the things that mean the most to people in Pendle. We can only be sure that we’re doing this if you tell us what they are.

“We’re also currently looking at district nurse provision following concerns that numbers seem to be reducing at a time when there is an increasing trend to move health services out of hospital and into homes.”

Kath Haydock, the council’s scrutiny manager, said: “The scrutiny team can look at anything which affects the quality of life of Pendle people. The focus is usually on those things where we can make the most impact. It really does help to hear suggestions from local people and where their topics are taken up they’re invited to get involved too.”

To suggest a topic for consideration by the scrutiny team during 2015/16, call Ms Haydock on 01282 661607 before February 27.
