FIVE new locations were involved in the second annual Colne Food Festival.

The gastronomic gala served as an appetiser for Colne’s annual Christmas lights switch-on.

Live music from the Dead 20s and New Rendition serenaded visitors to the main marquee, off Great George Street.

The main marquee featured a host of traders and information stalls for the likes of Colne In Bloom and Burnley Crop Share.

Co-promoter Ashley Sutcliffe, of Church Street-based Live Like The Boy, said: “Last year we did not know what to expect — because it was all new — and we are based at The Muni. But we still got around 4,000 people through the door.

“This year we have been able to spread out more, and taken a number of sites around the town centre.”

And events organiser Charlie Bolton, from Let’s Get Crafty, said: “The only complaint we had last year was that it was a little too compact — so this is an improvement.”

The events committee of Colne Town Council was another key partner, along with Kat Weatherill Photography.

The festival was extended to include Shackleton Hall, Church Street, Colne Market and Colne Precinct — where there was a children’s fairground.

Eliza Moye, the Barnoldswick town crier, ensured that attractions like Darwen Brass Band, the Lancashire Wallopers clog dancers, Pendle Jazzmen and the Red Rose Barbershop Chorus were well publicised.
