PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has led calls in Parliament for pensioners to have a fair and active life.

He has co-sponsored an ‘Early Day Motion’ calling on the Government and local authorities to do all they can to tackle the challenges facing older people.

Mr Stephenson said: “There are more people now aged over 60 than under 16 and over 10 million people alive today are likely to reach 100-years-old.

“This is fantastic but does have social and economic consequences that we as a country need to prepare for.”

The MP will be hosting a pensioners fair at the St Johns Methodist Church in Albert Road, Colne on Friday, September 19 and all are welcome.
