Hundreds in protest over Gaza

First published in Pendle

A SECOND protest against attacks on Gaza saw hundreds gather in a town centre.

Only two weeks after a demonstration against the attack on Gaza a further protest against the Israeli action was staged on Friday.

Over three hundred people gathered in Nelson town centre to show their opposition to the continued strikes. The protest was called by the Pendle Palestine Twinning Group.

Addressing the demonstration, Richard MacSween, chair of the group, said: “Since we protested here two weeks ago, over a thousand more people have been killed in Gaza, mostly civilians and many of them children. The attacks on Gaza must stop, but that in itself is not enough.

“Justice for the Palestinian people means an end to illegal Israeli settlements, an end to the Wall and an end to the military occupation.”

A collection was held for Medical Aid for Palestine Gaza Appeal, raising £300.

A further protest is planned for Saturday August 9 when there will a march from Brierfield gathering outside the town hall and library to Nelson, starting at 2.30pm.

It doesn't really matter what is done to air the popular view to stop killing innocent Palestinian people especially children, as Israel has enough support from the super powers to do what it wants when it wants. No one has the balls to tell them to stop and that includes the United Nations.
This is how the civilised countries behave, however Our governments are the first to air their views and brand countries as terrorist but not in the case of Israel!
Double standards !!!!

Show pratical support for Hamas - mutilate the genitals of your wife and daughters. Take a look at the laws that the Muslim Brotherhood passed in Egypt when they controlled that country.

Not arguing with any of that, but it hasn't been helped over the years by groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, PLO, and the rest, deliberately and repeatedly siting artillery positions and rocket launching sires right in the middle of densely populated residential areas.

Israel needs the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah as cover for not talking peace to anyone.

The PLO-Fatah government in the much larger West Bank area does not allow rockets or anything else to be fired into Israel. But Israel refuses to talk peace with them anyway.

If Hamas were to disappear tomorrow the Israeli government would be in real trouble as it would be out of excuses for not talking peace.

Don't forget to mention the young white girls forced into being prostitutes after being supplied with drugs, or else held and worked as slaves in their homes.
Don't also forget the young girls taken to Pakistan and forced into marriage, or the many illegal scams worked by people.

Or the young people being killed by being sold illegal drugs every night, and dying with an overdose.

Anyway what's wrong with producing and selling weapons, giving some people good jobs with plenty of overtime this, for some workers at BAE Systems.

Talk about calling the kettle black.......

Israel did not tell civilians in Gaza to leave Gaza. In fact completely the reverse - Israel has blockaded Gaza for several years now and the people there are prevented from leaving by the Israelis.

Israel told people in Gaza to go to safe places ion Gaza - but there aren't any safe places in Gaza. As is shown by the Israelis bombing three different United nations run schools being used as refuges by families trying to do what the Israelis told them to do.

The Israel army seems to be winning.
Do you think you may be wasting your time.?
After all when the football season starts and then the X Factor on TV every weekend, people will have other things to think, and talk about.
As soon as Hamas is kicked into touch the sooner the better .have we to have a protest March supporting Israel
It would be too large....about 99% of the population

Don't seem to be any of these protesters at any of the 100 year World War One ceremonies. These people, don't mind living here ,and getting all the benefits, but are not very thankful to the people who lost their lives to achieve the peace in this country.
You Tony seem to be a sad pathetic person who has nothing better to say about the WW1&2 dead. You seem to forget that the very people you are referring to had fathers, grandfathers, uncles fighting with our forces . Suppose in your clouded eyes that does not matter but for me n my family they have the same respect as my grandfather, great uncle who fought in the war. Therefore I will be grateful to all the brave soldiers who fought the wars regardless of their colour or religion, as they were on the same side .
Didn't see many Muslim people at Townley Hall last night mate......

One speaker gave a speech......and 3 or 4 stood on the window sill
looking at the proceedings.

What did you say the population of Muslim people living in Burnley was?

Hardly a very high percentage was it?

Honestly, you real must brush up on your history. I'm surprised the lack of knowledge you have. But then again its normal for likes of you.

why should Israel stop their attacks?? they didn't build tunnels.yes the people of Palestine maybe innocent but they voted Hamas into power and yes the political wing of Hamas seem to disagree with the military arm of Hamas just as it was with the IRA, so perhaps the people should be having words with their leaders??

So it's fine to kill innocent babies, women and the elderly? The UK alone sold 40 million worth of weapons to Israel, so who is the real terrorist?
Don't forget to mention the young white girls forced into being prostitutes after being supplied with drugs, or else held and worked as slaves in their homes.
Don't also forget the young girls taken to Pakistan and forced into marriage, or the many illegal scams worked by people.

Or the young people being killed by being sold illegal drugs every night, and dying with an overdose.

Anyway what's wrong with producing and selling weapons, giving some people good jobs with plenty of overtime this, for some workers at BAE Systems.

Talk about calling the kettle black.......
your being racist to a kettle!!!

If Hamas were to disappear tomorrow the Israeli government would be in real trouble as it would be out of excuses for not talking peace.
if hamas didn't exist why would Israel need to talk peace?
