A FOOTPATH in Barrowford is set to be diverted to avoid going near the garden of a house with an electric fence set up.
The footpath will be diverted around Lower Ridge Farm, if councillors agree to the proposal.
Tom Partridge, Pendle Council’s countryside access officer, said: “In 2008 we became aware that a set of high- electric security gates had been set up across the path on the southern side of Lower Ridge Farm, to replace an earlier set of wooden gates.
“There was a narrow pedestrian gate to the side but this may have prevented some people from using the path.
“The overall impact of the gates on footpath users could have been quite intimidating both physically and psychologically.”
