A HOUSING campaign group will meet Pendle Council officers to discuss the council’s new Core Strategy.

Lidgett and Beyond, a group campaigning against plans for 270 houses on land in Colne known as The Rough, will meet chiefs at Nelson Town Hall on April 9 to discuss the document.

Sarah Cockburn-Price, Lidgett and Beyond’s secretary, said: “We see the Core Strategy as a key instrument to help us protect this area from greedy, out-of-scale developments for the next 15 years.

“Lidgett and Beyond broadly supports Pendle’s draft Core Strategy. In particular, it supports the provisions relating to protecting and enhancing the countryside and the focus on viable and sustainable development. However, there are some important changes we’d like to see reflected which we believe will be good for Pendle as a whole.”
