POLICE are appealing for information after a boy was offered a lift home as he walked from school in Colne.

The incident happened at around 3.50pm on Thursday when the nine-year-old was approached by a man in a black car or van in Trawden Road. The driver is described as white, around 35 with short brown hair.

Sgt Shaun Pearson said: “It is possible that someone may have offered the boy a lift home after being concerned about the distance he was walking. If this is the case I would urge this person to come forward so we can put parents’ minds at ease. We understand that people may be alarmed and concerned about this incident and we would like to reassure them that we take reports like this seriously and it is being thoroughly investigated.”

Police are working in the area and parents are urged to be vigilant.
