THE last Blockbuster store in East Lancashire closed on Monday with the loss of four jobs.
The Colne branch of the DVD retail chain was the last to remain open in the area after the company went into administration in January this year.
Stores in Blackburn, Accrington, Padiham and Rawtenstall closed earlier in the year, and the store in Clitheroe closed down in November.
The branch in Market Street, Colne, is one of 62 nationally to close this week.
Joint administrators Simon Thomas and Nick O’Reilly, of Moorfields Corporate Recovery LLP, said: “Further to our recent statement, we are announcing the closure of a further 62 stores across the UK and a further 427 jobs as part of the effective phased closure as announced on November 28.
“Unfortunately, we have still not received any acceptable offers so we may be forced to close the remaining 91 stores.@
