FOUR men from Nelson’s Lithuanian community have been accused of false imprisonment, blackmail, wounding, assault and making threats to kill.
Sarkis Muradjan, 32, and Vismantas Vilkauss, 39, both of Stafford Street and brothers Darius Svedskas, 33, and Dainus Svedskas, 24, of Castle Street are each facing six charges Police have said the accusations follow the alleged ‘physical and psychological abuse’ of two Lithuanian men at a house in Castle Street on Tuesday.
All four men appeared before Burnley magistrates yesterday and were remanded in custody to appear before the town’s crown court on June 17.
Three other men aged between 26 and 56 have been released on police bail pending further enquiries, police have said.
Police have confirmed that their enquiries into the allegations are ongoing and have asked any potential witnesses to contact them on the non-emergency number 101.
