AN ANGRY dad assaulted his daughter because he could not come to terms with her being gay, Burnley magistrates heard.

Ian Lord, 43, bent back daughter Danielle's fingers and twisted her arm.

He told police he could not accept Danielle, 22, was a lesbian.

Lord, of Bowland Avenue, Burnley, admitted assault and was bailed for a pre-sentence report.

He was banned from the family home at Amersham Grove, Burnley, and must not contact his family.

Elizabeth Read, prosecuting, said Lord had been blanking his daughter since she announced she was gay but had turned up drunk at the family home on June 3.

Lord told her he did not believe in anyone being gay, before assaulting her.

When officers arrived Lord was sitting watching television, with a can of beer in his hand.

Mrs Read said the there had been no reconciliation between Lord and his wife and she did not want bail conditions lifted to allow him home.
