DETECTIVES in Burnley have issued a fresh appeal for witnesses after a teenager was beaten up in a back street in Thursby Road.

The 13-year-old boy was playing with friends outside Sher Fabrics, Briercliffe Road, on Saturday, March 10 at around 9:30pm when a shutter was kicked.

Two Asian men opened the shutters and then a further two Asian men chased the boy down Briercliffe Road onto William Road and then onto the back street where he fell over.

He was then repeatedly punched and kicked by all four males and thrown up against a wall.

One of the attackers is described as wearing big glasses and was around 16 or 17 years of age.

One of the other males was wearing a silver chain round his neck and three gold rings on his left hand.

The boy was taken to Burnley General Hospital and treated for head injuries and severe bruising to his face and body and was left with two black eyes.

DC Sheralyn Melton from Burnley CID said: "This young boy was left with significant injuries as a result of this incident.

"He suffered a nasty beating at the hands of four, older males.

"It is essential that we identify those responsible."
