LITTLE sisters Mia and Lilah Smith will be taking tiny steps to pay a huge tribute to their beloved dad from Burnley after he lost his battle with leukaemia at the age of 30.

Mia, aged seven, and two-year-old Lilah, of Rosegrove, will also be supporting the medics and carers who looked after their window cleaner father Luke, before he died last November.

The pair are just two of the Little Hospice Heroes who will be lining up at the second annual walk around Towneley Park on May 17.

Mum Claire Smith has set up a Just Giving website page for the plucky youngsters, as they tackle the picturesque three-mile course.

She said: “In July 2013 my husband Luke was diagnosed with leukaemia.

“He bravely fought the disease for 16 months but in October 2014 we were told the devastating news that there was no more treatment available.

“Luke came home to spend precious time with his family, during which we got married and had our youngest daughter baptised. Pendleside Hospice was a huge support at this difficult time. They provided amazing care for Luke and enabled all of the family to spend as much time with him as we possibly could.”

The couple, who had been engaged since the age of 18, were married at All Saints and St John the Baptist Church, in October last year.

Luke, diagnosed with the condition when he was 29, was a former Padiham Green Primary and St Theodore’s RC Hugh student.
