A BURNLEY man has been charged after allegedly exposing himself to a woman before attempting to drag her into nearby bushes.

Police have said that the victim was jogging alone in the Cinnamon Brow area of Warrington last Thursday just before 7pm when she was approached by the man at a junction.

He was standing close to a bus stop before he allegedly exposed himself to her and attempted to drag her into nearby bushes. Det Sgt Darren Wright, one of the investigating officers, said the woman managed to break free after a struggle.

The man is then thought to have tried to drive off in a grey car, which was driven so erratically that he missed hitting the woman by only a few inches.

An appeal for eyewitnesses was issued by Cheshire Police last Friday and an arrest was made over the weekend.

Detectives in Warrington say that a 45-year-old man from the Gannow Top area of Burnley had been charged with indecent exposure, committing an offence with intention of carrying out a relevant sexual offence, and dangerous driving.

He has been bailed to appear before magistrates at Runcorn on March 25.
