A BARROWFORD car dealership has joined a fundraising campaign for the family of injured Burnley teenager Luke Mason.

W18 Cars, founded by former Clarets midfielder Paul Weller, auctioned off football memorabilia to help Luke’s family with travel costs while he remains in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool.

The Blessed Trinity RC College student, 13, collided with a car while crossing Lyndhurst Road, in Burnley, on February 11.

He remains unconscious but stable after sustaining a broken skull.

In a statement on its Facebook page, Burnley PRpublic relations firm Candypig Marketing said: “After hearing the awful news last week of local teenager Luke Mason being knocked down by a car on his way back home from the shops, , and then seeing all the effort local people are making in a bid to help the parents and family of his, with the travel and other expenses that they are now faced with, our client and ex-Claret Paul Weller, of W18 Cars Ltd, based in Barrowford has today [lent] us with the idea of auctioning of some his own personal football memorabilia.

“In turn, he hopes to help contribute all the proceeds from it to Luke’s and his family’s cause.”

Among the items Mr Weller sold was a pair of signed gloves once worn by former Burnley goalkeeper Brian Jensen.
