A NATIONAL retailer will open the doors of its new store in Burnley next week.

The Range will officially open the shop at the Ashfield Retail Centre on Friday, January 30, at 9am.

Around 100 jobs are to be created at the store which will be based in the former Homebase premises.

Around 45 jobs were lost when the DIY store, which had been at the site for six years, closed last year.

Among the special guests for the opening include the Mayoress of Burnley Councillor Lorna Thatchell, and company owner Chris Dawson.

The Range will be offering prizes to the first 50 people in the queue.

Mr Dawson said: “We are always excited about opening new stores and Burnley is no exception.

“The new store will create around 100 jobs; from sales assistants to store managers and we hope to be an integral part of the community.

“Burnley comes at an exciting time for us as a company as we continue to expand.

“Our repeated success is largely down to the fantastic teams we employ and we are confident that the new Burnley employees will only add to our achievement. Burnley is the perfect location for The Range and We look forward to inviting the local community down to experience the opening day.”
