A CANNABIS supplier said to have been dealing to children for cash could be facing a jail term.

Mohammed Rizwan Sikander, 27, offered to supply the drug to two vulnerable 15-year-olds but claims one of them told him she was 17, Pennine magistrates heard. Chairman Stephen Riley said: “We take the matter very seriously. Vulnerable young people were involved. We are certainly not ruling out custody.”

Sikander, of Colne Road, was caught with a stash of cannabis and £1,000 cash at his Burnley home, after police received information from a young female. He admitted possessing cannabis with intent to supply and was bailed until December 19, for a pre-sentence report. He was told he must live at his home address and must not be in the company of anybody under the age of 16.

Prosecutor Alex Mann told the court that police went to Sikander’s home and found 37 bags of cannabis in a shoe box. Officers also found about £1,000, in notes, in a bedroom. Ms Mann said: “Police were looking at the defendant as a result of information from a young female. She said the defendant had offered to supply drugs to her and another girl. They were aged about 15.”

Kristian Cavanagh, defending, said: “This can be dealt with by the imposition of a curfew.”
