Dixon, 25, of Victoria Apartments, Padiham, pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order in favour of Melanie Ashton.

He was jailed for 12 weeks for the offence and a further 14 weeks for being in breach of a suspended prison sentence.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Dixon had spent time in hospital after being stabbed following the incident which resulted in the restraining order and suspended sentence.

He siad: “He was trying to get his life back into some kind of order.

“Miss Ashton actually says in her statement that she was not abiding by the restraining order and had been having contact with my client over their child.

“Mentally he had got himself in a position where he could move forward but when she contacted him it triggered his emotions.”
