SCOUTS in Burnley will use a cash injection from a county councillor to help pay for a trip to the movement’s world jamboree.
The £1,000 grant is part of a £4,000 programme endorsed by County Coun Kim Snape, the authority’s young people’s champion.
The troupe is fundraising for the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan, with their expedition including a trip to Tokyo and a visit to Hiroshima.
Coun Snape said: “The role of the champion is to support young people from Lancashire to have new experiences and learn new skills.
“I'm pleased that this money will be helping different groups around the county, where it will directly benefit children and young people.
“There is already a lot of good work taking place around the county.
“By giving funding to these groups, it will help them to continue the excellent work that they're already doing.”
Other grants cover projects at Ormskirk Fire Station and Leyland St Mary’s RC High School.
Smaller amounts will be made available for Chorley Play Partnerships and the Debt Advice Foundation.
