Charity boost for community groups
10:49am Tuesday 12th March 2013 in Burnley
THREE community groups in Burnley have received new equipment thanks to a charity fund.
Healey Wood Community Association, Burnley Wood Luncheon Club, and Coal Clough Lane Community Centre all gained a grant from the town’s Acorn Fund.
Coun Charles Bullas, the mayor of Burnley, said: “I am extremely pleased that these community groups have benefited from the Acorn Fund.
“These groups play an important role in their communities, and it’s a pleasure to be able to support their work.
“Burnley Wood Luncheon Club specifically asked for a dishwasher which will help them as they provide lunches for local residents.”
The Acorn Fund became the responsibility of Burnley Council in 1952. It aims to help sick, poor, needy and elderly residents.
